The soul is believed to be the inner energy within your body which acts as the driving force behind your personality. It is the guiding light which shines from inside and directs your path as you move ahead in life. The importance of your soul lies in its ability to transform and push you towards becoming a better person.
The soul is also considered as the purest form of energy but with human elements which ensures that it helps us find the meaning of our life. A pure soul, for example, guides us towards good and an evil one casts shadows over our beings. But how does it transform as we age?
#1 Age - 10 years and less
It is believed that the soul is in its purest form when we are experiencing our childhood. It is innocent, new, and naive about the workings of the world. Like the toddler trying to find its first steps, the soul, too, tries to find its true bearings.
Children, therefore, are considered to have the innocence which comes from the soul itself. They do not lie, deceive, or cheat like adults because their soul hasn't been tainted with the negativities of life. The soul remains true and faultless for much of this duration if the child has not been put through traumatizing experiences.
#2 Age - 10-20 years
This is the age duration in which a child starts to move towards adolescence and youth. The body undergoes great transformations and it lays down the marker for what the adult would be. It is this period in which we start exploring our own capabilities.
The soul, in this period, undergoes a similar transformation. It tries to make sense of the confusion around it and tries to find a balance between what it is and what it ought to be. The soul explores the possibilities of morality and what is right or wrong to put forward a template for the future adult.
#3 Age - 20-30 years
This is the time period in a person's life where they enter the real world, face their first real responsibilities and understand what it means to be an adult. It is a period of some turmoil which later clarifies and people settle down by the time they reach their 30s.
The soul plays an important part in this period. It grows more mature compared to the body and each new experience enriches it. It understands the value of good and bad, and it takes into consideration the consequences of action. The soul, basically, finds its true shape and moral orientation in this period.
#4 Age - 30-40 years
This is the age period in which we are inclined towards maintaining a good work life and family life. We are relatively stable in terms of our intellect and we have figured out our aspirations. This is the period in which we let go of the earlier turmoil and prepare for a stable life ahead.
Our souls, during this period, are inclined towards anchoring our lives. It helps in maintaining inner peace so that we could be focused on our work and personal life. It anchors our anxieties and inner issues so that we don't deviate from what we set out to become.
#5 Age - 40-50 years
This is the period when we reach our peaks in terms of both private and professional lives. We are completely set in our ways and even our true beliefs have crystallized. We do not deviate much in our thoughts and our core values become rock solid.
Our souls, during this period, mature exponentially. Given the fact that it no longer needs to anchor our values, it feels free to explore the deeper meaning of life. Our souls start drifting towards true spiritual endeavors and this period involves spiritual exploration and inquiry.
#6 Age - 50-60 years
This period of our lives is spent in preparing for the retirement and the period of leisure which is to follow. Our work life starts receding gradually and we engage more with our family and our loved ones. We find peace not in grand successes but in small joys.
This is the period in which our souls explore the various possibilities in the spiritual realm. They inquire about the meaning of life, whether their true purpose has been fulfilled or not, and the deeper questions of happiness and legacy.
#7 Age - 60 years and above
Now that the private life takes over and we find a lot of leisure, our physical pursuits shift to the background and our spiritual pursuits become primary. We become more and more concerned with the questions of death and the afterlife.
Our souls, in this phase of our lives, become wiser with all the experience and learning it received. Its true purpose, then, is the pursuit of further knowledge and its propagation. The main aim is to find peace and help spread the learning to those who may need it. The soul, therefore, grows kind, generous, nurturing, and wise in the truest sense of the word.
